The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) desire for "Grater Tipraland" statehood is expected to dominate the Tripura Assembly election.

In a straight battle with the ruling BJP-IPFT coalition, the TIPRA party won 18 of the 28 seats in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections conducted in April last year, over the 'Greater Tipraland' proposal.

Bubhagra stated that his party is willing to form an alliance with any national party that provides a constitutional solution to the demand of Tripura's indigenous people, who constitute one-third of the state's estimated 40 lakh population and live in the tribal council area, which accounts for two-thirds of the state's territory.

The creation of 'Greater Tipraland' is essentially an extension of the governing partner Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura's desire for 'Tipraland,' a breakaway state for TIPRASA by cutting off the TTAADC territory.

The current demand, on the other hand, wants to include all tribal members residing both inside and beyond the TTAADC region.

The concept of 'Greater Tipraland' extends beyond Tripura to encompass Tripuris residing in Assam, Mizoram, and Bangladesh's the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

However, the royal scion has never said if his desire for 'Greater Tipraland' attempts to alter Tripura's geographical limits or whether the prospective state's map includes portions of Assam, Mizoram, and Bangladesh.

The party wants to meet with the Centre to discuss their request but has gotten no answer thus far.

All major political parties in the state, including the ruling BJP, the opposition CPI(M), and the Congress, have repeatedly rejected the idea, calling it "separatist and destructive."

If a 'Greater Tipraland' state is founded, TIPRASA, who make up one-third of the population, will govern two-thirds of the territory, while non-TIPRASA, who make up the other two-thirds of the population, will have to settle for only one-third of Tripura's territory.

"We seek a constitutional answer to our demand, which can only be provided by the federal government. It is not feasible to address our situation alone via the approval of a financial package "According to Bubhagra

He stated that his party's goal is to "empower the TIPRASA community," but that it is not opposed to any other community.

"The TTAADC region is home to a large number of Bengalis. We want them to live in harmony and peace. Bengalis and TIPRASA coexisted harmoniously in the princely state of Tripura, and we wish to continue that legacy "He stated.

TIPRASA monarchs governed the princely kingdom for many years till it joined the Indian union in 1949.

Bubhagra also chastised the state administration for failing to organize elections for the TTAADC's 587 village committees, despite the fact that their terms had ended a year ago.

The decision The BJP is fully aware that if village committee elections are held, it will lose more than 95 percent of the seats. If elections are not held by March 31, no funding will be allotted in the next budget.
