Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao Sworn In as Chief Justice of Tripura High Court

Agartala, July 23, 2025: In a significant judicial development, Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao took oath as the new Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court today. The oath was administered by Hon’ble Governor N. Indrasena Reddy at a formal ceremony held in Raj Bhavan, Agartala.

Justice Rao, who earlier served at the Punjab and Haryana High Court, succeeds Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh. With years of legal and judicial experience behind him, he is expected to bring reforms in digital case handling, transparency in legal processes, and reduce the backlog of pending cases.

Several dignitaries, including senior judges, state ministers, and top bureaucrats attended the event. In his short address to the media, Justice Rao said, "Tripura has always upheld the dignity of the judiciary. I will ensure the rule of law prevails with justice being accessible to all."
