Agartala, May 27, 2025:
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has ordered a formal inquiry into allegations made by Tipra Motha Party (TMP) founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma against Gomati District Magistrate (DM) Tarit Kanti Chakma.
According to official sources, Dr. Saha has instructed Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha to conduct a detailed investigation and submit a report on the matter. The directive came after the Chief Minister returned from a visit to Delhi.
The controversy erupted after Pradyot told reporters on Sunday evening that he had been trying to meet DM Chakma for over a month regarding official issues related to the Gomati district, but his repeated calls and requests were ignored.
“I came here to discuss important matters concerning the district. Despite trying several times, the DM did not respond or agree to meet. If an elected leader is denied communication, what is left for the common people?” Pradyot questioned.
The development has stirred political debate in the state, with TMP leaders highlighting the issue as a case of administrative indifference and lack of respect for tribal leadership. The incident also brings into focus the broader demands for transparency and accountability within the state’s bureaucracy.
