Inhumanity Knows No Bounds: Sunil Oraon Lynched to Death for Stealing a Goat in Tripura

A shocking incident of mob violence has once again taken place in India, where 45-year-old Sunil Oraon was lynched to death on Saturday night in Tripura's West district. The reason behind this barbaric act? Allegedly stealing a goat. The incident has left the nation in shock and raised concerns about the growing trend of mob justice in India.

According to West Tripura Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar, nine individuals, including two women, have been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the crime. They were presented in court and are expected to be taken into custody for questioning. Meanwhile, authorities have launched an investigation into the matter after the victim's son filed a murder charge against the accused.

The gruesome nature of the incident came to light when Oraon was discovered dead with his hands tied to a tree, having allegedly been beaten to death by a gang of villagers who accused him of stealing the goat. This is not the first incident of its kind in the region. Earlier in 2022, a 26-year-old man was lynched to death in Sepahijala district on suspicion of cattle lifting, while three people were allegedly battered to death in Khowai district in two different incidents in 2021.

The incident has once again highlighted the need for strict action against mob justice and vigilantism. The government must take stringent measures to curb this menace and ensure justice for the victims and their families. The incident is a grim reminder of the urgent need for a comprehensive approach to tackling mob violence, including measures to strengthen law enforcement agencies and promote awareness among the public
