A 61-year-old weightlifter from Tripura, Amardip Debbarma, has won a gold medal at the 2023 Asian Equipped Powerlifting Championship held in Alappuzha, Kerala. Competing in the Master 3 Class 120 kg category, Debbarma lifted the most at Squat Bench Press Deadlift to become the Asian Champion.
Despite facing challenges in his life, including working as a pork seller to make a living, he remained committed to his fitness regime and achieved excellence in his sport. Debbarma has represented India and Tripura at various events and is known as a sports and fitness enthusiast in his community.
He has received congratulations from people across Tripura for his achievement. His success has also drawn attention to his age and remarkable fitness level at 61 years old.
