Tripura, the second-largest producer of natural rubber in the nation after Kerala, has shipped 14,550 kg of natural rubber to Nepal, according to Rubber Board officials on Sunday. The Rubber Board-promoted Manimalayar Rubbers Pvt Ltd exported 18 tonnes of natural rubber (sheet rubber) from Tripura to Nepal in 2020 and a comparable amount to Bangladesh in 2000. Arunabha Majumdar, general manager of Manimalayar Rubbers, said that 14,550 kg of rubber latex (Cenex) manufactured in Tripura and priced at Rs. 12.42 lakh was exported to Kathmandu for use in the production of shoes.
The rubber shipment was transported to Nepal on Friday by vehicle via the Raxaul-Birgunj border route, according to Majumdar, who also predicted that it would arrive there in a week.

Since 1997, Manimalayar Rubbers, which has offices in Meghalaya's Guwahati, Silchar, and Tura, has provided marketing assistance to the farmers.
Tripura currently grows natural rubber on 89,264 hectares of land, yielding 93,371 tonnes of rubber annually valued at Rs 1,691 crore.

Assam produces 31,000 tonnes of natural rubber annually on a 58,000 hectare farm, followed by Meghalaya with 9,500 tonnes on 17,000 hectares, Nagaland with 6,100 tonnes on 15,000 hectares, and Manipur with 2,000 tonnes on 4,200 hectares, according to Board officials. Assam is the second-largest producer of natural rubber after Tripura. On 4,070 hectares and 5,820 hectares of land, respectively, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh also grow natural rubber, yielding 1,175 tonnes and 880 tonnes, respectively (IANS).
