In a concerted effort to address the pressing issue of tuberculosis (TB), Ompi Community Health Center (CHC) took the lead in organizing a comprehensive district-level awareness program on the occasion of World TB Day at the esteemed Ampi Nagar town hall in Gomati Tripura. Today’s event witnessed an impressive turnout, with active participation from diverse stakeholders including villagers, Asha workers, Anganwadi center staff, and members of the Ompi CHC team.
Under the overarching theme of “Yes! We can #end TB by 2025,” the program was meticulously crafted to not only raise crucial awareness but also to equip participants with preventive strategies against TB. Dr. Satyajit Paul, the diligent in-charge of Ompi CHC, orchestrated the event with precision, incorporating various segments including cultural presentations to engage and educate the audience.
Throughout the program, district medical officers delivered insightful sessions elucidating the intricacies of TB, its root causes, and effective preventive measures. Their expertise provided attendees with invaluable medical knowledge, empowering them to take proactive steps in combating the disease within their communities.
Addressing the assembled gathering, the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Kamal Reang, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), underscored the collective commitment towards eradicating TB by 2025. Dr. Reang emphasized the pivotal role of community involvement and emphasized the importance of raising awareness particularly among the rural populace of Tripura.
In his address, Dr. Reang also highlighted the alarming correlation between narcotics abuse and TB prevalence, urging attendees to remain vigilant and combat substance abuse as a means to mitigate the spread of the disease, especially among the youth. The presence of notable figures such as Dr. Saumik Chakraborty, district TB officer, and Dr. Victor Deb of Ompi CHC further underscored the collaborative effort required to effectively tackle TB.
Overall, the program served as a rallying point for community action, emphasizing the urgent need for proactive measures, collaborative initiatives, and sustained education to achieve the ambitious goal of eliminating TB from society by 2025.
