Tripura to Use Nanotechnology for Building Rain-Proof Rural Roads: An Eco-Friendly and Cost-Effective Solution

Tripura will employ nanotechnology to construct rain-resistant rural roads, according to National Business International Technology Sports City Education Home News Business.

A senior official announced on Thursday that Tripura will utilise nanotechnology to build rural roads to make them durable given the state's frequent heavy rains.

According to him, the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-III) has received Rs 214.23 crore from the Union Ministry of Rural Development to build 32 roads totaling 231.64 km in the state.

He continued by saying that the state would build 16 highways totaling 114.23 km using nanotechnology

The Northeast as a whole experiences severe rainfall, hence the state has embraced nanotechnology to improve rural connectivity. According to this technology, roadways would be transformed into sturdy concrete constructions utilising cement and chemicals, according to PMGSY (PWD) principal engineer Bimal Das.

Chips and bitumen are typically used to build roads, but they deteriorate within a few years, wasting thousands of rupees, according to him.

According to Das, roadways built with nanotechnology will survive longer.

According to the official, PMGSY-III focuses on consolidating the current network of rural roads by improving through routes and significant rural links that link habitations with agricultural and rural markets, educational institutions, hospitals, and administrative headquarters.

In order to build roads under PMGSY-III with improved quality and endurance, the state has also opted to use the Full Death Reclamation (FDR) mechanism, a fully automated approach, he added.

32 roads are present, of which four are in North Tripura, one is in Dhalai, eight are in Khowai, six are in South Tripura, and eleven are in West Tripura.

Das stated that 779 km of new rural roads had received approval from the Center in order to improve connectivity.

In order to receive approval for these roads, we will now send detailed project reports (DPRs), he stated. PS PTI SOM PTI
